SRO Disarms Suspect in Middle School Shooting

ATLANTA – An off-duty police officer working as a school resource officer disarmed and detained a student who is suspected of shooting a 14-year-old classmate in the head.

The SRO was able to apprehend the suspect immediately after the shooting.

The shooting took place at Price Middle School on Thursday. In addition to the 14-year-old being injured, a teacher was also wounded. The teacher was treated for minor injuries at the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to be released this evening.

The school uses metal detectors.
