COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Security staff from Wasson High School contacted police after identifying an individual across the street from campus who was acting suspiciously. The man was a former student who already had warrants pending for possession of firearms on school grounds.
The suspect, a minor, was in possession of a sawed off shotgun when he was taken into custody by Colorado Springs police, News First 5 reports. The suspect’s intentions are unknown, but it is believed that the decisive actions on the part of school security staff may have prevented a dangerous incident.
The suspect was arrested for charges of possession of weapons by previous offenders and unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon.
