LOS ANGELES – Officials from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center issued a statement July 12 claiming that 14 patient records were “inappropriately accessed” between June 18 and June 24, which coincides with the time when reality television star Kim Kardashian was recovering from the delivery of her baby.
Kardashian delivered her daughter with rapper Kanye West on June 15.
Five employees and a student research assistant have been fired over the breaches, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Although the hospital did not identify the individuals whose records were breached, TMZ is reporting that shortly after checking out of Cedars-Sinai, hospital officials notified Kardashian of the security lapse.
Four of the workers allegedly involved were employees of local physicians with staff privileges. Three of the doctors had provided their user names and passwords to their employees, which is a violation of Cedars-Sinai policy.
