5th Graders Arrested for Plot to Kill 7 Classmates

Published: February 14, 2013

COLVILLE, Wash. — Two fifth graders at Fort Colville Elementary School admitted to plotting to kill one of their female classmates, who they labeled as “rude and annoying,” as well as six other students. Another student thwarted the attempt when he told a school employee about the plan.

The two suspects, ages 10 and 11, were armed with a stolen semi-automatic gun, ammunition clip and knife. They planned to lure the girl, who they claim picked on them, off campus and have the older boy stab her with the knife last week, CNN reports. The younger boy would scare off any responders with a .45-caliber Remington 1911 semi-automatic handgun he stole from his older brother — also a juvenile. The boys also planned to lure six other students away from the school one at a time and kill them.

The boys told another student about their plot two weeks before the incident was supposed to take place, and said they would pay him $80 to keep it secret.

The suspects will not be tried as adults.
