Possible school shootings were prevented on two separate occasions, one in Pennsylvania and the other in California. In both instances, police were made aware of the threats and were able to search the suspect’s house, find evidence and arrest them.
Student Arrested for Threatening to Shoot Up Middle and High School in Napa, Calif.
Napa (Calif.) Police were contacted on New Year’s Eve about a River Middle School student’s “possibly planning” of a school shooting and threatening to kill another student, reports Kron4.
The suspect, a 14-year-old boy, allegedly told another student about his plans to shoot up both the middle school and Vintage High School. He then threatened to kill the student if they reported him, according to the police.
After learning of the threat, Napa Police acquired a search warrant and found plans and research on mass shootings at the suspect’s house.
He was arrested and taken into police custody on Jan. 2.
Police are thankful for the student who came forward with the information and believes a potential tragedy was averted.
They encouraged all parents to talk to their children and teach them if they see something, say something.
Snapchat Video Revealed Potential School Shooting Threat in Saxonburg, Penn.
A high school student in Saxonburg allegedly posted a video on Snapchat of himself shooting a gun with the caption “Training for Prom Walk.” He has since been arrested, reports WBAP.
The video also showed him firing multiple rounds from an assault rifle.
The suspect, 18-year-old Jason Bowen, was charged with terroristic threats, prohibited offensive weapons, use of possession of drug paraphernalia and causing catastrophe.
A police search of Bowen’s room also uncovered brass knuckles and drug paraphernalia.
According to Bowen’s lawyer, the student says he is aware of his actions, but he just made a bad joke.
The South Butler County School District confirmed that schools were on a modified lockdown on Monday and there is no longer a threat.
