GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A patient at Gaston Memorial Hospital raped another patient who was heavily medicated at the time, according to police.
On July 20, Howard Gillespie allegedly got into the bed of a 35-year-old patient he didn’t know and raped her, WSCOTV reports. Gillespie’s criminal record includes convictions for assaulting a female and habitual misdemeanor assault.
Hospital officials declined to comment on what security measures are in place to keep patients safe.
