NEW YORK — A former Hillcrest High School student has received a $285,000 settlement in a lawsuit claiming he was beaten on two separate occasions by school safety officers.
Rohan Morgan was allegedly beaten for using a cell phone and then beaten again for reporting the attack to the media, the New York Daily News reports. After the second attack, he was taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital in handcuffs for psychiatric evaluation.
The settlement agreement, filed Jan. 11, calls for no admission of wrongdoing on the part of the defendants.
