N.C. Student Standoff Sparks Campus Lockdown

The surrender of a student from Campbell University in North Carolina who was suspected of stealing weapons, ended a three-hour standoff Wednesday that put the Buies Creek campus on lockdown, reports WRAL.

Harnett County Sheriff’s deputies were trying to serve papers on freshman Jared Dale Knight, 24, when he barricaded himself inside a private home on Dr. McKoy Road at the northwest corner of Campbell’s campus.

Knight was being sought for the theft of an AR-15 from Sovereign Guns where he worked.
