Grand Jury: FSU Police Acted Heroically During Campus Shooting
A grand jury has determined that the actions of the Florida State University police were justified in a November active shooter incident. The gunman was shot 15 times after refusing to drop his weapon.
A grand jury has hailed the actions of the Florida State University (FSU) Police Department during an active shooter incident that left three injured on Nov. 20.
Gunman Myron May was shot 15 times by campus police after he opened fire at the campus library, paralyzing one student, injuring another and grazing a third. Police confronted May outside the library and asked him to drop his weapon, but he refused and shot at officers, Capital News Service reports.
The grand jury determined that the police officers’ actions were justified and heroic.
The grand jury also commended FSU police dispatcher Camila Peralta for her actions during the shooting. Peralta took the first call about the incident from a non-911 line while she was on early morning duty.
