Vicon Announces New 4K P/T/Z Dome Camera

Vicon’s SN688D-WIR HD network dome camera has 8MP resolution with an integrated 30x optical zoom lens and integrated IR LEDs.

Vicon Industries, a designer and manufacturer of video surveillance and access control software, announces the launch of the new SN688D-WIR pan/tilt/zoom (p/t/z) dome camera.

The high-speed p/t/z functions, along with 360° rotation, enable the camera to quickly move and focus on different objects in the scene, according to the company.

Vicon says the 30X optical zoom allows for the capture of crisp images at a long distance, with sharp definitive edges that outline every object and feature, allowing users to take advantage of the full display potential of today’s 4K performance and provide detail without pixelation when zooming into a recorded video for investigative purposes.

In order to adapt to constantly changing outdoor lighting conditions, the SN688D-WIR features an autoiris lens that maintains proper light levels to maintain video quality under diverse and changing lighting conditions.

The true day/night camera includes a removable IR cut filter for video in all lighting conditions. This camera also leverages synchronized IR LEDs that automatically adjust the intensity with the optical zoom of the lens.

The SN688D p/t/z is designed for both indoor and outdoor installations, in low light and challenging environmental conditions, making it well-suited for locations that require large area coverage, including campuses, airports, malls and hospitals.

“Our 4K fixed dome and bullet models have been a popular addition to our extensive camera line, so we’re thrilled to incorporate 4K resolution into this powerful and feature-rich p/t/z dome,” says Bret McGowan, senior vice president, sales and marketing.
