Rave Mobile Safety, a provider of safety communications solutions, announces the acquisition of AppArmor™, a developer of custom branded safety apps.

The acquisition will bring together the scalability of the Rave platform with mobile app customization through AppArmor to deliver technology for critical communication and collaboration, according to the Massachusetts-based company.

“AppArmor shares our mission to disrupt and innovate critical communications and incident collaboration and has established a robust customer base that speaks to their ability to deliver technology that makes a difference,” said Rave CEO Todd Piett. “With the addition of AppArmor, the combined company can now offer our clients an even broader suite of market-leading solutions to enhance safety and response for higher education institutions, public safety agencies and private enterprises.”

Founded in 2011, AppArmor develops custom branded safety apps and emergency notification systems with a proprietary approach to quickly launch and support customized apps. In addition to a large customer base in higher education and healthcare, the company has developed solutions for K-12 anonymous tipping used statewide in Florida and Hawaii, in addition to a COVID-19 module used to support back-to-work vaccination validation, says the press release.

Together, the companies are said to combine multi-modal mass notifications, crisis management solutions and integration into 9-1-1 and response processes to better meet industry needs and more quickly respond to market trends.

With the addition of AppArmor’s higher education customer base to Rave’s existing coverage of colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada, Rave will now cover 75% of the North American higher education population with solutions for campus safety, critical campus communications, emergency alerts, anonymous tipping and more.

“At AppArmor, we set out to become the innovators of public safety and joining with Rave is a major step forward in that mission,” said AppArmor founder and CEO David Sinkinson. “The integration of AppArmor into Rave’s leading safety platform will benefit all our customers as we combine technology to provide a better suite of safety products and further strengthen our industry-leading customer service.”
