ATLANTA, Ga. — CENTEGIX, an IoT company, announces the availability of ContactAlert™ to support schools in contact tracing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

ContactAlert, an extension of its CrisisAlert™ solution, enables district leaders to protect students and teachers by anonymously contact tracing school constituents that may have been in contact for a defined period of time with an infected individual, says the company. It can also be used for visitors that enter the school so employees can be better protected against infections coming from outside the school.

“Knowing the power of our platform, customers asked us for help with contact tracing. Expanding the use of our private security and location network to include contact tracing was a natural fit to battle the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Matthew Stevens, CEO of CENTEGIX. “For districts that want contact tracing, ContactAlert will be a valuable component of their COVID-19 preparation and risk mitigation plan.”

According to the company, data privacy is a fundamental design principle of Contact Alert and CrisisAlert. Data will be anonymously provided only for an incident that meets contact tracing criteria as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Departments of Public Health, which is currently more than 15 minutes of close exposure.

CrisisAlert is currently used to protect nearly one million K-12 students and staff in 10 states; not only during a pandemic but for student altercations, medical emergencies and active shooter incidents.

“We rely on CrisisAlert to increase safety in our district and help teachers be in control of their classrooms so that they can focus on the learning environment. With the new ContactAlert capabilities, school districts can do contact tracing to manage the spread of COVID-19 and leverage even more value from the CrisisAlert investment,” says Dr. Shanna Downs, Superintendent of Gilmer County (Ga.) School District.
