Wife of Dead Patient Sues Hospital Security Officers
EDWARDSVILLE, Mo. — The wife of a man who allegedly suffocated while being restrained by Gateway Hospital security officers has filed a lawsuit against the officers.
Crystal Burkey claims that on Dec. 2, Charles Knapp, Dylan Ritchie and Shane Biggs negligently battered Anthony Burkey in his room, forced him to the floor and lay on top of him, The Madison Record reports. She also claims that the officers did not immediately report Burkey’s death to their supervisors so that resuscitation attempts could be made.
Crystal Burkey is seeking a judgment of more than $600,000.
