2 Arrested after Wichita State Student Killed on Campus

Rayan Ibrahim Baba, 23, was found Saturday morning with several gunshot wounds in a dorm parking lot.

Two people have been arrested in relation to the killing of a student early on August 8 in a Wichita State parking lot.

Police say the victim, Rayan Ibrahim Baba, was an international student from Saudi Arabia, according to kake.com.

Baba, 23, was found with several gunshot wounds in the Fairmont Towers parking lot and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

On August 9 police arrested Isaiah Copridge, 23, and Eboni Fingal, 19, on suspicion of first degree murder, according to kansas.com. Authorities say Copridge and Fingal had a previous relationship with Baba.

A member of the school’s Saudi Student Association said Baba was an Electrical Engineering major and had only been at the school for six months. The student was likely coming from a 4:30 a.m. prayer that the association holds on Saturday mornings.

University President John Bardo said in a statement that the safety of everyone on campus is the school’s top priority.

Police say it was the first fatal shooting on campus since 1993.
