An alleged member of a New Jersey crime family jumped to his death from a hospital parking deck on July 1.
Edward Cobb had a warrant out for his arrest for burglary charges when he died by suicide. Cobb had been scheduled to turn himself in to authorities the day before after years of delays caused by alleged health problems, according to northjersey.com.
The 59-year-old jumped from the top level of the Hackensack University Medical Center parking garage and was pronounced dead shortly after entering that hospital’s emergency room.
Although police did not give details about Cobb’s crimes, prosecutors involved in his case claim he had been delaying his surrender by claiming to have a series of medical conditions, including 13 surgeries in one year.
Cobb’s plea agreement included prosecutors saying they wouldn’t pursue further charges against him related to his involvement with the Genovese Crime Family of La Cosa Nostra.
