Stanley Security announces that the nomination period has closed and voting has begun for the second installment of its Together for Safer Schools Grant Program to help higher education institutions enhance security on campuses. In its second year, the program provides the opportunity to strengthen safety and security in U.S. colleges and universities through a share of a $600,000 grant from Stanley.

Starting today and running through Feb. 13, students, faculty, administrators, parents, alumni and members of the campus community can vote daily online for their school at www.stanleysaferschools.com, via SMS text messaging or – new to this year’s contest – on Twitter via a hashtag specific to each qualifying school.

Colleges and universities with the first and second-most votes across three tiers of campus size – under 8,000 students, between 8,000-19,999 students and over 20,000 students – will be selected as grant winners, for a total of six winners. The winning schools will be announced in March.

Offerings provided to grant winners include consultative security services, access to Stanley Security’s Software Solutions Group (SSG) and seminars for school officials on security threat assessment and advanced Clery Act training offered by D. Stafford & Associates. Turn-key installations available to winners can be any Stanley Security product or solution, including access control, video surveillance, fire systems, intrusion systems, mechanical and electromechanical door hardware, mass notification systems and other security technologies.
