JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Residents here voted against two propositions — a tax levy and a $79 million, 20-year bond issue — that would have allowed Jefferson City Public Schools to improve security throughout the district.
If the proposals had passed, voters would have had to pay a 25-cent tax levy and 30-cent bond increase, KOMU.com reports. The tax levy would have helped improve security and safety, technology, transportation and professional development for staff members.
Had the bond issue passed, the district would have built a new high school and elementary school.
