Veteran Fatally Shoots Self in VA Restroom

HOUSTON — Authorities are reviewing security procedures at the VA Medical Center here after a veteran shot himself in the head at the healthcare facility.

Hospital officials contacted authorities after a cleaning crew discovered the veteran’s body in the restroom. Police and hospital personnel are wondering how the man, whose name has not been released, was able to bring a gun into the facility, as it is illegal to bring a firearm into a VA hospital, ABC 13 reports.
