UPDATE: Suspect in Custody for NIU Shooting

DEKALB, Ill.

A shooting in a residence hall at Northern Illinois University (NIU) on Feb. 19 has left one student injured, reports Reuters.

Twenty-two-year-old Zachary Isaacman has been charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, simple aggravated battery and unlawful use of a weapon, reports Chicago Breaking News.

At 3:29 a.m., Issacman allegedly shot Brian Mulder, 24, in the leg, and was caught by campus police five minutes after the shooting took place. A brief lockdown on campus was lifted after the suspected assailant was caught. Police said the incident was isolated between two individuals.

The victim was taken to the hospital and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have not released motive for the shooting.

The incident comes two years after a former NIU graduate opened fire in a lecture hall, killing five and wounding 19 before turning the gun on himself.
