U of Colorado PD to Hire Clery Act Compliance Analyst
The university’s Clery Act compliance and crime analyst will be responsible for developing training around the federal law and compiling security and crime statistics for the institute.
BOULDER, Colo. – The University of Colorado (CU) Police Department is seeking a Clery Act compliance and crime analyst to help the institute comply with the changing dynamics of the federal law.
This spring, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013 (VAWA) went into effect. VAWA amended parts of the Clery Act to require universities to compile statistics on sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking.
Because of the changes, CU police authorities decided it was necessary for one person to focus on complying with the law, rather than dividing the responsibilities among four individuals, Cmdr. Robert Axmacher told Daily Camera.
“Clery is complicated, and it’s something that you want someone who is more or less an expert in it to be able to have that big-picture view,” he explained.
The analyst will be responsible for developing training and education around the Clery Act, as well as compiling the security and crime statistics report for the university. Other responsibilities include releasing timely warnings to the campus and creating campus outreach and education programs about crime prevention on campus.
