BOULDER, Colo. — The University of Colorado began offering an interactive screening program on Sunday that allows students to screen their mental health online anonymously, and then receive support from a counselor.
The program is intended to help university counselors reach out to students who are having suicidal thoughts, abusing drugs or alcohol, or battling eating disorders, the Daily Camera reports. A test of the program was held last spring.
Campus mental health professionals identify groups of potentially at-risk students and E-mail them invitations to complete a 10-minute questionnaire. The results are then sent to the respondent with a personalized message.
