Two students were killed and three other people were seriously injured when a Houston school bus drove off a highway overpass August 15.
The accident began when a school teacher hit the driver’s side of the bus on an overpass, causing the bus to collide with the guard rail and plummet onto the street below, according to the Associated Press.

Mariya Alyss Johnson, 17, and Janeica Chatman, 14, were fatally wounded in the crash. The other two students on the bus and the bus driver are being treated at a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The teacher that hit the bus was reportedly swerving to avoid another vehicle and the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating. Investigators are unsure if the accident was caught on tape by cameras in the bus or around the highway.
The bus had so few students in it because it was near the end of its route to Furr High School.
The school bus was purchased in 2008 and had lap belts for every seat. The driver of the bus has a clean driving record.
