Teachers Could Gain Access to Detailed Student Criminal Records

DALLAS — Texas is considering a piece of legislation that would provide teachers with detailed information about the criminal histories of their students.

Currently, the state provides some information to teachers, but this legislation would give teachers access to information that is normally kept confidential, the Associated Press reports.

The bill was influenced by the murder of a teacher in 2009.
