BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—A 19-year-old male was arrested for recording girls while they were using the restrooms at Bakersfield College.

A 28-year-old student contacted the Bakersfield College Public Safety Office after she realized that Javier Guzman-Ortiz was videotaping her from an adjacent stall on Aug. 23, according to TurnTo23.com. Campus security immediately detained the suspect until police arrived.

Guzman-Ortiz allegedly hid inside the handicapped stall within the Speech Arts and Music building’s public restroom. He waited for unsuspecting women to enter a connecting stall and then recorded them. In addition to recording the 28-year-old student, the suspect also captured another, unidentified woman on film.

The suspect deleted the contents on his camera by the time police got to him. Guzman-Ortiz, who is not a student at the college, was charged with loitering in or about any public restroom for the purpose of engaging in an unlawful act and to secretly recording women without their knowledge or consent for the purpose of gratification in a location where there is a reasonable expectation of privacy.
