Teacher Suspended Over Gay Marriage Facebook Rant
MOUNT DORA, Fla. — A “Teacher of the Year” at Mount Dora High School was suspended after he posted an anti-gay comment to Facebook page last month.
Jerry Buell wrote on his Facebook page that he “almost threw up” when he found out that New York had decided to allow same-sex marriage, the Huffington Post reports. He also wrote: “If they want to call it a union, go ahead. But don’t insult a man and woman’s marriage by throwing it in the same cesspool as same-sex whatever! God will not be mocked. When did this sin become acceptable???”
Buell’s Facebook page has since been removed and he was initially reassigned before the suspension for violation of the school’s social media policy.
