Suspected N.C. School Shooter Arrested on Florida Beach

Police say Kenneth Morgan Stancil killed a Wayne Community College employee on the school’s campus Monday.

The man accused of fatally shooting an employee at a college in North Carolina was arrested around 1 a.m. Tuesday on a beach in Florida.

Kenneth Morgan Stancil was arrested after police say he killed a longtime employee at Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, North Carolina on Monday. Although Stancil had a knife on him, he was arrested without incident after authorities found him sleeping on a beach in Florida, according to local10.com.

The victim, Ron Lane, was working as the college’s print shop operator when Stancil reportedly shot him on the third floor of a building on the campus. Stansil was a former student at the college and had worked for Lane.

The school was initially locked down as authorities were unsure if the shooter was still on campus.
