Suspected Murder-Suicide Leaves 3 SUNY Students Dead

Police say former SUNY Geneseo student Colin Kingston killed two students before killing himself.

Authorities believe a man stabbed his former girlfriend and another man before killing himself at a SUNY Geneseo off campus house on Jan. 17.

Police say Colin Kingston, 24, used a large knife to kill Kelsey Annese, 21, and Mathew Hutchinson, 24, before committing suicide early Sunday morning, according to Fox News.

Kingston had dated Annese for three years before a recent break up, which police suspect was the motivation for the crime.

Annese and Hutchinson were students at the college while Kingston had recently graduated.

Kingston reportedly travelled to Annese’s home to commit the double homicide, and then called his father to tell him about the crime.

Geneseo police received a call from Kingston’s father around 6 a.m. Sunday, who said he believed his son had just stabbed his girlfriend and was going to turn the knife on himself. When officers arrived at the house, which is just a few blocks off the college’s campus, they found two bodies in the bedroom and a third in another part of the house.

A spokesperson for the town’s police department said he couldn’t remember another homicide in the town since he began working for the department 23 years ago.
