Suspect Nearly Runs Over Officer, Hospital Security Staffer

ALLIANCE, Ohio — A police officer and a security officer were nearly run over in the parking lot of Alliance Community Hospital when they attempted to question a man outside of the hospital’s emergency room.

Thomas Needs was observed by a nurse breaking into a medicine cart, and when she confronted him, he fled, Fox 8 reports. Officer Roy Tittle was called to the hospital to take an attempted theft report.

Tittle and a hospital security officer searched the parking lot for the suspect who was seen leaving the hospital on surveillance video. Needs was spotting reclining in the driver’s seat of a car; when he saw the officers, he drove right at them.

Tittle and the security officer were able to get Needs out of the car and arrest him.
