Subject of LSU Police Pursuit Kills Himself

BATON ROUGE, La. — A driver being pursued by police Thursday ended the chase when he shot and killed himself.

The pursuit began at the Louisiana State University (LSU) campus when Steven Sanchez, 28, hit a barricade, WAFB reports. Sanchez ran through the barricade and almost hit several pedestrians, according to LSU police Capt. Cory Lalonde.

Several spike strips were set up, and at least one of those disabled a tire on Sanchez’s vehicle, but did not stop the chase. Eventually, Sanchez pulled over and shot himself.
