Some people complain about kids being attached to their phones at the hip, but that situation saved one student from getting shot recently.
A Fresno State student’s phone stopped a bullet during a robbery on August 31.
The student was outside of his home in the Campus Edge Apartments of Fresno when a masked man confronted him, stealing his backpack and firing one shot. The student’s phone, predictably resting in his pocket, was in the path of the bullet and prevented it from entering his leg, according to abc30.com.
Police are investigating the incident and searching for the thief, who got away with the student’s laptop.

The thief is believed to have slipped through the open gates of the apartment complex and followed the student home. A nearby resident told reporters the gates have been open for the past few weeks in the gang-troubled neighborhood formerly known as “Sin City.”
The owner of the apartments acknowledged there was a problem with the gate’s card reader but assured residents the problem has been fixed and the gates now lock properly. The owner also told residents he is looking to improve lighting outside the apartments and add surveillance cameras.
Fresno State has offered the student counseling but the student reportedly told his roommate he’s never coming back to the school.
