SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Police arrested 11 Saratoga Springs High School students, two graduates, one of the student’s parents and a Skidmore student for supposedly purchasing fake licenses from an international counterfeiting ring.
The forged licenses had working magnetic strips, holograms that would show up under a black light and other security features of an “enhanced ID card,” The Saratogian reports. The students allegedly purchased the licenses from a Beijing-based Web site, sent money orders to Indonesia and received the licenses via shipments from Eastern Europe.
The licenses could even fool police scanners if the students were pulled over, according to Saratoga Springs Police Lt. John Catone.
