Student Must Wear ‘I Got Suspended’ Placard

PORTAGE, Ind. – As punishment for using foul language at school, an Indiana High School student was forced by his family to stand on a street corner for four hours and hold a sign saying he was suspended.

The 16-year-old, who had been suspended for five days from Portage High School for uttering profanities, held the yellow “I got suspended” sign as he stood on a busy street corner on Feb. 22. He was also required to do military-style push-ups and sit-ups and study the Bible.

This was the teenager’s second suspension. A third suspension may lead to expulsion from the school.
