Student Arrested For School Shooting Tweet

DES MOINES, Iowa — A student at Des Moines Area Community College was arrested on his second day of classes after he sent a message over Twitter about shooting up the school.

Paul Richard George, 18, was charged with first-degree harassment, the Des Moines Register reports. He posted this message to Twitter: “Who wants to shoot up the DMACC Ankeny campus the same time I shoot up the Urban campus?”

DMACC security personnel discovered the message while monitoring social networking sites. The threat – which George claimed was a joke – was not a credible one, according to Rob Denson, president of DMACC.
