CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Police at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) arrested a student on Monday on 13 felony charges. Bernard “Junior” Morris faces 12 counts of aggravated burglary and one count of aggravated arson. He is also suspected of planting surveillance equipment in three campus apartments.
Several students in a campus apartment alerted their resident assistant after they returned from spring break and discovered items in their apartment that did not belong to them, the Chattanooga Times Free Press reports. Campus police determined that the items housed surveillance cameras.
Morris is also accused of throwing a smoke bomb into the third-floor trash chute of an on-campus apartment building on Feb. 27.
In addition to the criminal charges, Morris will be facing a student conduct judicial review by the university. Pending the outcome of this review, Morris’ access to the campus will be restricted.
