Settlement Reached in Excessive-Force Lawsuit Against Western U

Victim of excessive-force incident says he is happy with the outcome of the lawsuit.

London, Ont. – A settlement has been reached in an excessive-force lawsuit against Western University in London.

Irnes Zeljkovic, who was a student at the time, filed a civil lawsuit against the university after he was violently detained and arrested by campus and London police officers in the hallway of a university building. The incident was filmed on camera and placed on Youtube, and generated over 400,000 views, reports Durhamregion.com.

Zeljkovic, 27, said he was suffering from mental illness at the time of the incident. He also said he is happy at the outcome of the case, which started nearly five years ago.

Zeljkovic’s lawyer said the terms of the settlement are not being released.
