ST. LOUIS — The owner of a private security company and former detective has been indicted for defrauding School District 189 and the East St. Louis Housing Authority by inflating his bills.
Kim L. McAfee, the owner of KLM Loss Prevention Inc., underpaid employees but billed the district and housing authority for the full amount he should have paid, St. Louis Today reports. In 2010, he agreed to pay $25,000 in back pay owed to 35 employees, but never did so.
McAfee faces 16 counts of making a false statement, 15 counts of mail fraud, three counts of wire fraud and three counts of falsifying records.
