School District Trains Teachers, Staff to Carry Guns

More than 20 school district employees in Clarksville, Ark., are being trained to carry concealed firearms on campus.

The teachers, administrators and other staff members will receive 53 hours of training, and by the beginning of the school year they will be permitted to bring their weapons to work, reports the Associated Press.

The training is costing the district approximately $50,000, reports ABC News, and is designed to help teachers respond to active shooters.

Signs will be posted at the schools letting everyone know about the armed guards, although the specific individuals carrying weapons won’t be identified.
