San Francisco State U. Police to Use Tasers

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The San Francisco State University (SFSU) Police Department will receive Tasers for their 28 officers upon completion of a campus policy that sets rules for their use.

Currently, 17 California State University (CSU) campus police are armed with Tasers. The CSU chancellor’s office is pushing for all 23 campuses to be equipped with the weapon.

SFSU police officers started training with the weapons mid-September, according to university spokesperson Ellen Griffin, San Francisco Bay Guardian reports.
