WASHINGTON — Workplace incivility is on the rise, according to researchers who attended the American Psychological Association annual meeting on Aug. 7.
Research suggests that 75 to 80 percent of people have experienced rudeness or insults while at work, USA Today reports. This behavior adds to stress and produces negative effects.
As companies lay off workers while expecting the same levels of productivity, civility at work suffers, according to psychologist and researcher Paul Fairlie.
