Professor Storms Out of Class, Leaps From 2nd Story Ledge

PHILADELPHIA — A Chestnut Hill College professor walked out of his classroom on Aug. 3, returned briefly and yelled a few words, then left again and threw himself from a second story ledge inside the building.

Rudolf Alexandrov, 71, fell head-first  20 to 30 feet to the marble foot and died after campus officers were called to the scene by Alexandrov’s concerned colleagues, the Philadelphia News reports. The suicide was witnessed by Alexandrov’s wife, Olga, who is also an adjunct professor at the college.

The college is offering counseling to those who witnessed the incident.
