Police Pepper Spray Santa Monica College Students

SANTA MONICA, Calif. − Santa Monica College campus police sprayed students with pepper spray as the students attempted to push their way into a trustees meeting on Tuesday.

Students were protesting the school’s plan to offer high-priced courses, but only a few students were let into the meeting, CBS reports. When their request to move the meeting to a larger venue was denied, they attempted to push their way into the room.

Police began using pepper spray after two officers were allegedly backed-up against a wall and another lost his balance. It was the first time pepper spray had been used against students on campus, according to Santa Monica College spokesman Bruce Smith.
