Police Search for Widener U. Shooter

CHESTER, Pa.—A student sitting in a car in the parking lot of Widener University’s athletic center was shot Monday evening, and police are looking for the gunman.

The victim was seriously wounded and remains in the hospital.

Police were notified of the shooting when someone pressed the “distress” button of one of the school’s call boxes, reports ABC News.

Although police believed the shooter fled to a nearby residential neighborhood,  campus officials asked students to shelter in place until this morning.

A spokesman for the school says the shooting did not appear to be random, reports the Associated Press.
