Police: Mom Tried to Smother 8-Month Old Child in Hospital

KNOXVILLE, Ky. – Kirsta Lashay Faubion, 20, is facing aggravated child abuse charges for allegedly attempting to smother her 8-month-old daughter in a hospital bed.

The incident is believed to have occurred Sept. 2 at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, reports KnoxNews.com. It is unclear exactly how the alleged abuse occurred or whether or not the hospital’s video surveillance system was used to apprehend the suspect.

Faubion is currently in jail, and her bond has been set at $200,000. Her lawyer is requesting a mental health evaluation.
