NEWTOWN, Conn. — Authorities placed schools here on modified lockdown Monday after Hawley Elementary School received phoned-in threat that stirred fears throughout the community.
It is unclear what type of threat was phoned in; however, police and FBI are currently investigating it, ABC News reports. As part of the modified lockdown, students were dismissed to their parents or by bus. On Tuesday, city officials added more patrols at the entrance of Hawley Elementary School, WBTV.com reports.
The latest threat comes almost six months after the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting last December. During that incident, Adam Lanza broke into the school and gunned down 20 students and six staff members.
