Philly School Police Officer Dies After Breaking Up Fight

School District of Philadelphia Sgt. Daryl Giles, 50, died on Monday.

School District of Philadelphia Sgt. Daryl Giles, 50, died on Monday after being found unresponsive in a bathroom at George Washington High School.

Witnesses say Giles, who was very popular on campus, had only hours earlier broken up a fight between students, reports MyFoxPhilly.com. He had also complained of chest pains earlier in the day.

District officials are saying Giles died of an unknown medical issue.

He had served 19 years with the district.
