BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A total of five sexual assaults have been reported at Indiana University this semester, leading police to increase campus patrols and offer a free self-defense class for female students.
No arrests have been made, but police have suspects in two of the cases, reported The Chicago Tribune. None of the assaults took place near a campus emergency call box.
According the U.S. Department of Education, Indiana University experienced eight forcible sexual offenses in 2007 and five in 2008 on its Bloomington campus. In 2009, that number increased to 21.
