Patient Brandishes Knife in Michigan Hospital Waiting Room

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Nurses at Marquette General Hospital are asking to meet with administrators about security.

The request was prompted by an incident on Saturday night when a patient who was talking with a nurse in the ER waiting room pulled out a knife, reports UpperMichiganSource.com. Michigan University Public Safety officers were called to the scene, but no one was injured.

A representative from the Michigan Nurses Association will be involved in the meeting.

Hospital officials issued a statement on Thursday saying they are working with police and plan on examining options for improving security.
