OSU Considering ID System Changes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State University’s (OSU) new advisory board, called Buckeye Secure, has been created to investigate how the school can identify students without using their Social Security numbers.

OSU has been using student Social Security numbers for the past 20 years, but the school is looking to transition to a new system.

The change would prevent thieves from obtaining student personal information and then using it for identity theft purposes.
