Old Dominion Basketball Player Shot on Campus

NORFOLK, Va. – Brandon Johnson, the backup point guard for Old Dominion University’s (ODU) basketball team, was shot in the shoulder Jan. 26.

Officials have no suspects, but they do not believe it was a random shooting. Johnson was shot from behind as he was entering a University Village apartment. The assailant then fled on foot.

As a result of the shooting, campus patrols are being increased. Police are also urging students to walk in groups and be aware of their surroundings.

Johnson is expected to make a complete recovery but will not be able to play games for four to six weeks.
