An Oklahoma teen was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the rape of a 16-year-old in September, which caused students at the victim’s high school to protest.
Tristen Killman-Hardin, 18, got eight years of his prison sentence suspended but has been in police custody since December after raping a girl when she had passed out in his car as he gave her a ride home. He filmed the crime and showed footage of it to other students at the high school, according to yahoo.com.
When news of the video spread, two other students accused Killman-Hardin of a similar crime. Those allegations prompted hundreds of students at the high school just south of Oklahoma City to walk out of class in November to demand punishment for their classmate’s actions. The students said school officials were not taking the allegations seriously.
The school district said it was acting quickly, carefully and responsibly in the case.
